I’m getting married in a year and I’ve started doing some research on photographers. I had a friend just pay ,000 for a photographer (for the whole day) and I’ve seen some packages below 00. What is normal and how do you know you’re getting the right value for what you pay?

all i really want is someone for me getting ready, the ceremony, the reception..so maybe 7-8hours.. i want the cd of pics with copyright and then an album..do you think its possible with this budget?
i also heard that if a photographer asks for all the money before the job that you shouldn’t trust them.. like you should give half to save the date and then the other half after you recieve the proofs..i can’t remember where i heard it from but is this true? i’ve always heard of photographers skipping out and things..and i’m so worried about choosing the right one lol..
most other people we have are relatives or friends of the family.. but we don’t have anyone whose a photographer 
I’ve decided to become a wedding photographer after i graduate high school but i don’t know where to start any advice ?
My best friend of 10+ years is getting married this summer. He has asked me to be the Best Man for the wedding. I was really happy to find out about it and now have allot of respoinbility being the best man. So now knowing ill have my hands full that day being best man. My friend and his soon to be wife cannont find a wedding photographer in there price range. As it turns out I happen to be a Pro Wedding Photographer and my friend wants me to shoot the wedding and be best man. I understand he is in a bind and needs a photographer, but this is the first time I have ever been asked to be Best Man or even been in a wedding in years! I know if I have to shoot it as well as be in it I wont have any fun and will be working the whole time. Plus leading to problems after the fact if I miss something becasue Im in the bridal party as well. What should I do ? Shoot it ? Be Best man ? Both ? What should I tell him ?
I have told other photographers I know and have worked with about this problem , and most of them are booked for that day already or wont do it for less then 00. Witch is more than what my best friend is willing to spend…
Is there any way to hire a wedding photographer and just pay for the electronic prints and print them ourselves own cost? I just don’t see the point in having them print a 0 album that I could do myself for much cheaper. How much on average is a good photographer?

I hired a photographer for my brother’s wedding reception and he didnt turn up. Instead he sent a guy who we had used for the engagement and HATED!! He didnt call or anythign to say he wasnt coming, he just sent ths other awful photographer.
We saw te pics yesterday and they are awful. The colors are wrong. The makeup looks weird, there are some awful poses. There are no pics of the guests or even that many of the famly. There is not a single photo of my son - the bride and groom’s only nephew/ringbearer.
I amn’t sure what to do about it. The pics are awful quality too. They look like someone took them on their mobile phone. Severeal guests at the wedding took pictures and they turned out AMAZING. The bride looked stunning. But in the "professional" pics she looks ODD. This was the first boy’s wedding in my family in 30years and our family is very upset. Can I sue the photographer or make him pay for rehiring of kilts and redoing makeup and he can redo the whole shoot??
