Don't know what to add to my tables? (pics)?
I am getting married in June. I am having a simple beach wedding using the color pool and some tropical colors in my flowers. I have some things for my tables but it’s missing something. Help me. What can I add. I have 2 different tables. One is with teal candle holders and one is with clear ones. I am going to mix them up. What can I add to these tables? Here is what I have so far. Now the table they are on isn’t the table we are using it will be a round table that sits 8. I also included a pic of the favors. A small box with tropical colored jelly beans.

I helped out with a wedding and she did floating candles. There is no way i am doing them. They are a disaster. They all kept falling over and going out.
I thought about going to the store the day of and buying some fresh flowers and putting them on the table. Like cutting the tips off but leave about 3 inches of the stem.
putting flowers in the vases is not an option. I can’t afford to pay a florist. I’m trying to make it as nice as possible with my budget.
So far I spent about a table. If that. Each candle was and I bought ribbon to put on them and each candle holder was . the vases were a piece and the sand was a couple dollars a bag and so were the shells. Trying to keep in budget.
what if I add something like this?

well the bow is already attached to the boxes. I may try the stamp idea though.

I used those exact same boxes! Martha stewart? right?
Anyway…my first reaction was that it looked to plain. It needs an accent color. Maybe an orange. What other colors will be in your flower arrangement? The table needs a flower or plant of some sort. Maybe a few rocks scattered on the table. Pretty rocks. I love it thus far, just needs "something".
You could put some flowers on the table.
Maybe get some small palm leaves, or maybe other shells/something beachy to put on the table, like "sprinkle" or spread them on it, then sit your centerpieces down… You could do something with sand if it didn’t get messy. You might be able to put some sand under the votives and put a star by them…
Our colors are blue/peach, so I’m using tall blue vases and then I’m using iridescent foil shreds(like paper shreds) and putting it under/around the bottom of the vase. I’m getting peach water gems and putting some in the vases(to fill with water and add a floating candle), then I’m spreading some around the centerpiece…
I like the Blue Tulle Idea, it sets off the sand and shells perfectly!
What if, instead of putting the sand and shells in the vase, if you did a very small, inexpensive arrangement of orchids or lillies. You could do like 1 or 2 big flowers, and then a little greenery.
Then around the vase, maybe on a glass tray/plate or something, put the sand and the shells.
The box of jelly beans is also cute, although I would do it in a different box. What I did for my wedding was I got peach and brown jelly bellies and put them in a plain white organza bag. Then my mom and I made some little tags that said "thanks" and we tied them with a peach ribbon.
Organza bags are usually cheaper than boxes, but if you do decide to do a box, either do a blue box with white ribbon, or a white box with blue ribbon.
You could even use that same white box and go to a craft store and buy a stamp (like maybe a starfish, or shell or something) and decorate the outside of the box with a stamp
Edit: this is what I did for my cousin’s wedding. They had a really tight floral budge, and she wanted white flowers.
We hit up the floral stores near the venue and just picked up all the white flowers they had and some greenery. Since your wedding is in June, there will likely be a large selection.
Or, if you don’t want to worry about not being able to find enough of the same flower, buy some nice looking silk flowers. You only really need 1 for each table.
Also, Peruvian Lillies (called Alstromeria) are less expensive lillies. They come in little bunches, so you could just get some bunches of them. I think for my wedding, it was like $3 for a bunch of alstromeria, and then we used 1/2 a bunch in each centerpiece.
Also ordering the flowers seperately will also save money. Once you say "wedding flowers" the price gets jacked up. So call another florist or something and just ask for 10 individual lillies, and offer to pick them up yourself so you save a delivery fee. And then just arrange them yourself (or have a mom, grandma, cousin, etc do it) to save an arrangement fee.
Oh, and you can buy little organza bags from the dollar store. I think I got like 6 for $1. Plus, they show the colors more than the enclosed boxes. Its your wedding though.
Loose colored shells. You can buy them by the pound online for very little. I sed them fo rmy beach wedding and they added a splash of color.
I also used color linen napkins. My venue rented them, but buying them turned out to be cheaper!! I went to linentablecloth.com and got a great deal..
By the way, good job on the centerpieces!!! Splendid.
Good luck
What beautiful centerpieces! I love it. Two suggestions – it looks a little too symmetrical and organized. Maybe sprinkle something around – beach sand, tiny shells and star fish etc. on the tablecloth. Second idea, add flowers – for maximum effect and low cost, try using rose petals in a color that accents/contrasts and sprinkle those on the tables too – so it doesn’t look too neat. Congrats – sounds like a beautiful wedding!
You could get a smaller table cloth in blue and put it over the white to add more interest. You could also again layer that with another circular one in a different color that would go in the very center of the table, it would make the table look more inviting and like there was more on it. Great job!
Get extra flowers, and have them scattered around the centerpiece to add color… You know, between the vase and the candles…
It needs more color…
This is what I am doing with MY centerpieces…

(Hey, I got a REALLY tiny budget!)
maybe sprinkle some flower petals on the table? It seems romantic…or maybe add a picture of a sunset on each table with the family’s last name on it?
you have seashells and starfish with your candles so why not scatter one or two more around the center vase? that would be quite pretty. i just saw your last photo with the blue tulle – very pretty, soft and romantic! that really looks good and takes away the bare look you were worried about.
if you want color under the arrangements don’t add another tablecloth – use napkins! they would be more cost effective!
i wouldn’t do flowers with what you have now – then its too busy and you won’t have time to be going in at the last minute and adding fresh flowers…..keep to the theme you have going and you’ll have a beautiful setting.
also instead of a white bow on your little box use a colored bow that would really jazz up the white box.
happy wedding sweetie and don’t worry about what others say – you stay on your budget! good luck!
I like the idea of adding fabric around the vase to tie it all in a little more. Also you could add a little sand under the candles that are on the glass plate to make them blend better with the vase. Maybe add a couple lose shells to the table as well
To keep with your beach theme, the only thing I’d add would be some seashells / the little starfish / sand dollars, surrounding the middle candle –scattered on the table. Or / and if you could get pieces of driftwood to randomly put around the main candle on the table. Other then that it looks very nice.
(just an added thought — the 2 candles on each table on the plates arent protected and are probably going to be blown out — if it is an outside reception that is. You’ll either need to protect them or just take them off.)
First of all, I love your colors. That was my wedding color, and my wedding was in June
I like the tulle fabric wrapped around the vase. Another option is to add color by using pool colored table cloths and sprinkle white rose petals around the vase. Or stick with the white table cloth and sprinkle pool colored rose petals around the vase. You could put a mirror underneath the vase with tea lights on it to add to the glow. Something else to try that’s pretty cheap (and can be cheap looking if you’re not careful) is easter grass. It comes in blue (at Walmart) for like $1 a bag. You could sprinkle some of that between the vases and candles to add some color. Or sprinkle glass rocks/beads (clear or blue, depending on table cloth color) between the vases. You could also sprinkle sea shells between the vases.
Hi. Here is my opinion……
I LOVE the center vase/candle holder/sand/shells and I love the little candles with the blue ribbon. I don’t like the other candles in the holders (the clear "dish" type holders and the blue ones.) I think that is a bit too much.
You need something under the big vase…but I don’t like the idea of the fabric in your last pic. Why not buy a mirror tile (you can get these at dollar stores now). It will add a little shine….and then just place some more sea shells on the mirror….not too many…just a few.
This one is a bit too much…but you get the idea:

You need to find matching teal napkins, or place mats. Set your entire center setting on it, sprinkle the mat or napkin with sand and seashells to go with the vase filler. Some carnation blooms (stem cut off) in white and teal would look nice too. If cut the morning of the wedding you wouldn’t have to worry about them wilting at all. About 5 buds would be enough. As for the box, you could go to a craft store and look for small silk flowers, they sometimes come in packages. Find the smallest ones you can in the color ofyour choice and using a glue gun, glue the flower to the center of the bow. You could also add a personalized thank you tag to it customized to fit your theme.
Hope this is inspires new ideas if nothing else. Congrats on your wedding!
