Having a wedding day videographer?
This has nothing to do with money so…
Do you think it is really worth it to have your wedding and reception taped? I have one friend who did and another who did not.
First friend who has it says…I never watch it and didn’t really need it.
Second Friend does not have and and said yes yes yes get one because she regrets not getting her wedding footage.
What do you say?

Yes, just knowing it’s there makes a difference..
yes i love watching mine from time to time..its memories
If it has nothing to do with money. why not.
But no one i know has watched their wedding video.
Sure its nice to have…. like those china tea cups but unless your a emotional person who actually looks at her old yearbooks once a month and watches old photo slideshows of gradeschool… there isnt a purpose.
If you think you’ll watch it often enough to make it worth it, then why not. We are not having it done. I think we would watch it a few times, maybe pull it out again in 10 years or so… Just not worth it in our opinion. I’d MUCH rather pull out a big photo album and flip through that than watch a video.
I just had a friend record the ceremony on my own video camera and a tri-pod.
You get the same footage just without any fancy camera angles. You could do the same for your reception as well i guess.
However if money is not an option you should deffinately do it, i would be upset it i didnt have my special day taped. ( make sure if you do it the first way you have enough space on the tape and an extra battery, i learned that the hard way
)
I think it’s a great idea. I know a couple people that did it and loved it. It’s nice when everyone at the wedding says something about the couple on the video that they can watch later. When you get older I think it would be something you would really enjoy having to show your kids and just to watch again.
I also know a couple that was very glad they did it because something happened with the photos and the video was all they had. So it’s great as a back up to. You never know what may happen.
if it’s not an issue of money, do it. if you don’t watch it, a family member will, maybe even your children. my kids watch mine all the time. as for who you should have do it, do your research and HIRE A PROFESSIONAL!
no
i am recording mine, but only because we will only have close family in attendance, then are showing the film to friends and extended family at a later date wedding ‘reception’. i think that if i had pictures i would be happy with that (if we weren’t doing it this way), but it is nice to always have the video on hand. if you have to break the bank, i say it’s not worth it…have a friend bring a camcorder.
I have it and love watching it. My videographer did a really good job and my family and friends like to watch it, too!
I will honestly say that I have not watched the whole ceremony on video. Geesh, I thought it took a long time while I was standing there…I don’t need to sit through that again! I have skimmed through for the "important" or "meaningful" parts. The reception, though, I have watched again and again. I LOVE IT!! I’ve watched that more than I’ve looked at the pictures.
For me, it was worth every penny. (And I paid a pretty penny, too.) My absolute favorite part is the "wedding song video." My videographer took our wedding song and truncated the video for the five minute song. It’s FABULOUS!
I would say "yes."
No, you don’t watch your wedding video all the time but that’s not the point. When we finally watched ours, we were able to see the moments that we did miss during the wedding and that was great. There is so much going on on your wedding day and so many things you may miss and having a videographer is a way to capture those moments and re-live them.
My wedding is coming up Next month and we will be having a videographer. The way I see it is I have tons of home movies. I don’t watch them often, maybe once every couple of years or so, but when I do it is so much fun! Maybe my parents or my sisters will watch with me and we will reminisce about the fun we used to have and the silly things we did. I mean we have everything from Holidays to school plays to birthdays and some times us just goofing around. It’s so much fun to go back and see all of the events in our lives in a way you didn’t see them at the time. So I figure why should it be any different for the most important day of my life? (at least the most important so far!) I say if you have the money for it capture the memory. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy either you can even have a friend or a film student or something record it. Just get it on video.
Yes. Pictures and having your wedding day video taped are so worth it. You will see how beautiful you looked walking down that aisle, dancing with your new husband and little things that you may have missed because there is so much going on. Plus, this will give your guest a chance to wish you and your new husband well wishes. My husband and I plan to watch our video every anniversary. Don’t second guess it, just do it. Congratulations.
When the big day comes, it’s all about you. Everything will be focused on where you are and what you are doing. The sad fact is that you will miss nearly everything else that is going on, especially at the reception. If money is no object, get the unedited video. While the edited dvd would be nice, the videographer deletes scenes from the tape to create a video he thinks you want to see. All that extra footage the you paid to get is lost forever.
The main reason for the video is for when you have kids. This will be a opportunity to share your wedding day with them and impress your values of the sanctity of marrage and committment… or look back and say, "what was I thinking"
I am having a videographer. I see nothing wrong with getting one it is your day and if I am able to get one then I will watch it and show others it.
