How do you make sugar flowers for wedding cakes?

Is there any instructions anywhere? How is color added in gradiations such as on an iris?
Maybe I should be more clear. I am thinking the flowers that I saw made were made from fondant or something like that since they were something that was rolled out not made in a bag

The answer is both simple and complicated at the same time.
It is done with an icing tube. The color gradations are either painted on by hand, or more likely, the icing bag is loaded with both the colored icing, and white. When the flower is made, the colors mix from a rich purple to white, and everything in between – for example.
Yes, there are instructions from Wilton, there are even cake decorating books and videos you can get. I suggest you sign up for a class.
If I remember correctly, the flowers are made at the end of the 1st series, but the more intricate flowers may not be till the 2nd or 3rd series. I
It takes time, and lots of practice to make them, and make them look good.
EDIT – If they are fondant – then you can buy cutters to make them, then you just have to do the final shaping with special fondant tools (Try JoAnn’s) As for the colors – fondant is just like play dough, so you just blend the colors the way you want.
