Idea’s for a Beach Themed Wedding Reception?
Hello Everyone!
We are having a beach wedding and our reception is to be followed at a hotel..
It is going to be a small wedding about 50/60 people.
Our reception is going to be "beached themed" buffet style dinner.. It is going to be more of an elegant beach wedding then a luau type.
We are fun loving and want the reception to be a Big Bash but want to stick to theme as well.
Does anyone have any idea’s on what we could get to make our time even better?
Example: I thought all white leis or seashell leis for all guests might be fun. * Once the drinks and party really starts, of course
*
Also a lot of our wedding stuff is made with seashells, so any seashell idea’s would be Perfect!
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you & take care,
Bride516
Thank You Everyone!
Does anyone have any more idea’s for decorations during "Party Time".
My future hubby wants to have the big sunglasses, hula skirt, etc..
I think that is a bit overboard! I want to be fun and have the party of our lives but I don’t want to make it look cheap neither with the plastic grass skirts! *laughs*
I was thinking of having a limbo poll ( for late hours ) and decorate it ivory organza and white hibiscus flowers.
Looking forward to hearing more idea’s !
Thanks

Having seashell leis would be adorable favors for your guests. You could also have the baker decorate your cake with candy shells. During dinner you could have Hawaiian or Caribbean music playing in the background. You could have one specialty mixed drink available at the bar – you could work with the bartender to come up with a custom drink that you could name after you and your new hubby!
seashell napkin holders would be cute and simple. I think that you should hand out a pretty white leis would be cute to give out to all the guest that attened and they can also wear them during the wedding too. they dnt have to b white but it all depends on ur wedding colors.
An idea for a center piece (on the tables) would be to have large glass bowls (low with a soft curve). Put water in it, add some sand, sea shells, starfish, etc. Put some floating candles and petals on top. If you can find them, you can also get some LED lights to place around the outside edge of the bowl (under water level). It creates some nice lighting effects. Just put some flowers or a wrap or something over the lights so they only shine through the water.
A center piece like this allows people to see across the tables; rather than traditional flower or decoration arrangements that obstruct vision and hamper communication.
An option would be to contact the hotel, and see if they can offer a discounted price for your guests for if they wanted to stay the night. Without the need to drive home, people become much more relaxed and less reserved.
Be careful if you’re planning a seafood selection of food, as people generally aren’t used to eating lots of it (and drinking a fair amount at the same time). If you wanted the food to be sea-themed, try not to over-do it. People tend to think seafood is a rarity and will over-indulge when it’s on offer.
It’s fairly easy as well to get some small spot lights, and have sea themed silhouettes (cut outs) placed over the light to throw a shaped light. You can buy/hire lights like this premade. A similar thing can be done under you cake table, with a lamp with a modified shade throwing shaped lights onto the hanging fabric (hope this makes sense).
There are a range of delicate touches like this that can be made and still have the wedding formal and fun.
To get people to mingle (especially if the two families haven’t spent too much time together) is to have quotes and questions slips placed on everyone’s seat. The quotes and questions are related to you and your family. Have a small prize for the first table/person to answer five questions or determine where the quotes came from. It’s a good idea to have a fair few funny quotes and questions in there, but don’t embarrass anyone.
Anyhow. Hope this helps.
I would looked for accents to your tables. Like I saw a gorgeous bowl the a while that was a huge seashell. Use that for your cards on the gift table or favors. You could use table wear in the same theme for pens at the guest book table… or look for themed vases for accent flowers or the buffet table. I saw some super cute stuff cheap at Kohls the other day–

Add sand to tables too. You can pile it up all over and have shells spilling out of it!
I think the leis are perfect! Those can be given to the guests at the begining of the night….to give it a "fun" feel. How about some sand, w shells on the top and then some beach grass sticking out as centerpieces? Also, instead of the unity candle u can do the sand mix instead. You can do sooo much…even put tiki torches all around the outside of the tables. So much can be done! Have lots of fun!!!
You can find a lot of good ideas for beach themed wedding favors that include many items in the shape of shells at
