is this inappropriate for a wedding?

my fiance and i found this amazing place for our wedding in may. the ceremony and reception hall are right next to each other. but the courtyard where the ceremony will be held is a little bit on the smaller side. It can hold 150 people, but only if they stand. It has a rock wall going around the area and we want to clean it off and put maybe cushions on it for people to sit until the ceremony starts, but would it be totally inappropriate for our guests to stand during the ceremony?
i asked this question earlier, and to the questions that were asked, it would only be a 10-15 minute ceremony, and there is a 3 ft rock wall that borders the courtyard that we are going to put cushions on for people to sit until it starts. Also me and my fiance would be married on an area that is elevated higher than the rest of the yard. We would also put chairs for the elderly and those who are pregnant.
and Beach weddings have standing audiences.
there are places to sit before the ceremony begins

My fiance and I are planning our wedding for next May. We live in Atlanta but want to get married on the beach. We are thinking about Tybee Island, or somewhere that is a reasonable drive for our guests. I am new to the wedding planning thing, and we are on somewhat of a budget so I am trying to find prices on beach weddings. Another big thing is the reception. We want someplace that we do NOT have to have our food catered by a company. Instead, we want to have snack foods… like Chick-fil-a trays and little things like that. I want something classy and nice, but afforadable since we are paying for the wedding and reception ourselves. We are expecting 50-70 guests. Like I said, our hearts aren’t set on Tybee, but we want a beach close by there! Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

My family and I have been running a beach weddings comapny in the Jacksonville, St. Augustine area for years. I just recently redid our website and wanted to get feedback on the layout I choose. If anyone has time take a look at sunandseabeachwedding.com and let me know what they think.

Me and my fiance Frank are getting married at the courthouse next Halloween 2009. We are doing a "fake" ceremony with full wedding party at the reception the week after on our 11 year anniversary. We wanted to just get the legal stuff out of the way and we also wanted to get married on Halloween but knew alot of people are busy on that day.So with that instead of renewing vows we want to a Unity ceremony. We wanted to do something that symbolizes the union of us and our families. We want it to be different. We were thinking on having a parent or relative from each of our 4 families come up and be a part of uniting our familes and then have me and Frank do something that unites us all. At the end of it we want to have created something we can keep for years. I dont want to do a unity candle or flower ceremony. We like the sand ceremony but it makes us think of beach weddings.

The theme of our wedding is an Autumn Halloween Masquerade Ball. Any suggestions?

Is a destination wedding a good idea?

My fiancee Sarah and I recently got engaged. We are both in our late 20s. But since we just bought a house (she lives in it, I’ll move in after marriage), we don’t have much money for the wedding. We want to do a small wedding, but my Mom is upset because she has 7 brothers and sisters, and she wants all my cousins to come. She keeps adding to the guest list.

To complicate things, my fiancee’s parents (Detroit), my parents (Battle Creek), and we (Mount Pleasant) all live on opposite sides of Michigan. Both sets of parents are arguing that the wedding should be near them since everyone is 3 hours apart.

My fiancee’s parents invited us on an all-expenses paid trip to Hawaii with them. The trip is only 6 months away. With all the planning stress, I looked into beach weddings and there is a wonderful chapel that we could get married in. It would only cost us 0 and it is exactly what I want.

Sarah and I are excited about possibly getting married in Hawaii, but my Mom is angry because she cannot afford the Hawaii airfare (00/each) for the family. I’d like to help, but I am not in the financial position at this time.

All around wedding planning seems like a mess.

How do couples handle the family factor with destination weddings?

I’m having a beach wedding in Rivera Maya, Mexico and I’m SO EXCITED!!! I know my guest list is going to have to be short but I think it’s a good thing. I really like the intimate, private beach weddings and so does the groom.

But we both ALSO like to celebrate big things like this!!! And while I want a small wedding, oddly enough, I also want everyone in my family to be apart of this special occasion. Which is impossible. We both have HUGE families and lots of friends and tickets for all of those people to Mexico would not be cheap. But I was thinking…. what if we just threw a large reception when we got back to the states? A HUGE one that we could invite everyone too. If we did it that way we’d have to have the reception after the honeymoon which is a little backwards. And the bulk of our invitations would be for the reception only (not the wedding)… would people perceive that as rude?

In black or different shades of grey, blue or indigo.

I’m not really in love with dresses at places like Davids Bridal.

Do you think it would look nice if I choose two shades or colors that compliment each other and I have two of my bridesmaids in one color and the other two in the other?

And finally, is it strange to have darker colors at beach weddings? My fiance and I really love dark colors and think they could look nice at the beach but my aunt for example was telling me that it would look depressing. I just think it would stand out more. Some of those bright colors just look so tacky :/

Thanks!

Is anyone else sick of the strapless trend?

I don’t care what other people wear, but I don’t even think I will ever find a nice wedding dress for me because all the designers ever want to make is strapless. I have not seen anyone even look good in a strapless dress, no matter what size they are (even though the bigger girls that pour out the top of their dress really kill me). And I think for church weddings they are totally inappropriate, Maybe for beach weddings they are cool.

I was just wondering if anyone felt the same way and also, where to find pretty dresses with cap sleeves, or off the shoulder sleeves.

I’m trying to decide between a beach or garden wedding overlooking the ocean. What are your suggestions? I’m worried that if I do it on the beach, my dress will get dirty, sandy and maybe even wet, but I love beach weddings and think the backdrop would be great for pictures!!

Or, should I have my wedding in a private garden, behind my sister’s house in Long Island, overlooking the ocean and then go with the bridal party to the beach for pictures? Or should I have my wedding on the beach and have a backup cheaper dress to wear for my reception/afterparty in case it does get dirty?

This is the dress I’m going to wear:

My bridal bouquet-cascading orchids:

http://www.wedding-flowers-guide.com/images/moth-orchid-bouquet.jpg

My hair will be down & curled with either a flower or a headband. If I go with flowers, should I wear a daisy, orchid or some other flower (like a lily)?? What do you suggest?

I’d like my bridesmaids to either wear red or yellow cocktail dresses.
Should I tell them the color and let them choose their own styles or should I choose 2 dresses and let them vote on them, with the majority ruling?

I really like this Bari Jay dress, which has a beachy feel, but I don’t know if the yellow (suntan) will blend too much with the sand.

http://barijay.com/style.php?coll=barijay&showid=37

What do you think? Should I look for a brighter yellow dress?

What do you think of the SAME DRESS but in the red color? Would the gerber daisy/rose bouquet match nicely with these dresses?

I also like this coral/red bridesmaid dress:

http://barijay.com/style.php?coll=barijay&showid=28&style=253

Is this bridesmaid dress too fancy for a beach wedding?

Do you have any bridesmaid cocktail dresses (either red or yellow) suggestions for under 0?

Their bouquets are going to be red gerber daisies & yellow roses with crystal pins on the daisies and stem.

Thanks!

I’m in low panic mode…I still have time (wedding is 6/21/08) but I just found out details about my site not previously disclosed…

Originally it was to be on a large gazebo/deck overlooking the ocean…I called to find out about obtaining a generator permit (was told that was the procedure)..long story short, no power allowed, nor candles…no amplified sound of any kind….so unless we want a silent reception (not to mention the wedding march, etc)…’tis time to find a new site.

I’m at a loss…I work full time so I don’t really have the freeedom to browse along too much…If I can, I’d like to avoid the $$ of a wedding planner (but may have to deal with it)

I live in Virginia Beach, Va…(beach weddings are beautiful- but we can’t do a ceremony and reception there)

Wedding on a boat?

My fiance and I are getting married July 2008. We were looking at reasonable sites for both the ceremony and reception. But everywhere we looked was just blah and expensive. But, we found a boat that we can charter. Being a california girl I love the beach. But my family from cali has seen a million beach weddings. So this is like a beach but in my eyes it is even better because it is not done as often. Is this a good idea or is a boat wedding just too much trouble?
