I am a bridesmaid in my good friend’s wedding that is coming up in October. The maid of honor asked me to host the bridal shower at my new home. I do not want to do this because the groom’s family a good majority (including his mother) have been to jail, have constant problems with the law, and they aren’t the classiest people. My husband and I don’t socialize with these types of people due to the fact he is in law enforcement and I know my husband will get mad if I ask him.
What is an appropriate way to turn down the maid of honor’s request?
The thing is our new home is 5000 square feet we do have the room.
The maid of honor’s house is a studio apartment that doesn’t fit more than 3 people

I just found out that my work place is throwing me a bridal shower!

I am inviting a few people that I work with closely but not everybody but do I have to invite everyone now?

they’re throwing me a bridal shower at work….which im appreciative of..but do i have to invite them to the wedding (all of them?) im inviting only a few people to the wedding that i work closely with.
i don’t have the budget to invite everyone from work to my wedding/reception

I am getting married in September. My mother and bridesmaids are throwing my bridal shower and have requested a list of people to invite. I am not sure what the proper etiquette is when it comes to whom to invite. Do I still invite the people that live really far away who I know will not attend anyway? Do I invite the females on my fiance’s side that I dont really know that well? I already have all the females on both our sides of the family invited, but Im not sure what to do about non-relatives and those who live really far away (several states or more).

My friend was supposed to be getting married in August at the beach (which is a 3hr drive from here) and she said she was trying to get pregnant, which I thought was a mistake. I thought she should get married and then concentrate on getting pregnant, especially since she is high risk. She just got pregnant and said they aren’t going to have the wedding, they MIGHT have a very small wedding with 15 people after the baby is born. I had already bought candles and candle holders with some stones and tulle to make the favors for the shower(enought for 50 people), plus paper plates, utensils, cups and decorations, since the shower was going to be in June. She also stated she still wants the bridal shower and wants me to invite the same 50 people even though they won’t be invited to the wedding. I think that is in poor taste, am I right? Then on top of it she also stated she wants me to throw her another baby shower, which I think is ridiculous. She gave everything away from the first baby who is only 6 and I don’t think we should be responsible for outfitting her all over again. Not to mention the money I have already spent on the bridal shower things plus the dress and shoes. I don’t know how to deal with this, please help.

who has been in bettys catering for a bridal shower? tell me if you liked the place or not. i am invited to my friends bridal shower is a surprise for her, and i never been in one, so if youy tell me what they do there i will appreciated, i thought her mom was doing her bridal shower at home but now i know shes not.

How soon before the wedding date do people typically have a bridal shower? I am getting married in January and my aunt wants to host a Bridal shower for that side of the family. When is this usually held?

I just ask a questions about getting my future sister-in-law a gift for her bridal shower. Well I got a list of where the couple is registered at but not just her. Do I just get here something off of that list? I thought that was just for the wedding gifts.

My MOH is from out of town. She said she is going to fly out here and throw me a bridal shower, since all of my bridesmaids and friends are in a 4 hours radius of where I live and it’s easier that way. I’m really excited!

She has asked me to pick out a place where I would like to have the shower, and if I will help her with games and invitations and everything.

I don’t know if it’s because she doesn’t know any of the other bridesmaids or if they are just unwilling to help. I don’t know if the bridesmaids even know about it.

I don’t *really* have a problem with doing this, but does that seem kind of weird? Am I breaking any serious etiquette rules by helping? What should I do?
she is my ex-stepsister. so not really my immediate family.

I am making my own wedding invitations and LOVE the elegance and whimsy of a damask pattern. Are there sites, etc. where I could obtain or make my own damask pattern to use and alter for my invitations. I would like to carry this pattern throughout my save the dates, bridal shower invites, etc.

My sister is having her wedding on a beach front. Her bridal shower is going to have a theme of flip flops. I was going to buy everyone a pair of baby blue flip flops (since that is her color theme) so they can wear them at the beach during the wedding weekend…Is this a good idea? I will need their shoe sizes so how do I go about asking them in an invitation?
But im not the bride. I dont want to pass out wedding favors. This is for the bridal shower.

My bridal shower is this saturday and I was just curious what kinds of gifts people bring to a bridal shower? A few family members have been asking around, they are not sure what kind of gifts are traditional bought? Will guest buy gifts from my registry typically? is it usually household items or do they typically give gifts for only the bride? If people bring household gifts and such to the shower, will they also bring a gift to the wedding?
