I have a 5 diamond prong set white gold wedding band. If I brought it to a jeweler, is there any way he could set the diamonds in the band as to make it more of a channel setting instead of prong?

I ask because the prongs rub up against my engagement ring setting and as a result, the ER is being scratched.

The is (or at least was) a store in NY called The Diamond Bridal Collection LTD at 260 W. 39th Street NY 10018. I have tried calling the number listed for them (212.302.0210); however, it is disconnected. Does anyone know if this business still exists and where to find it?

I found a custom wedding band at a jewelers and haven’t seen anything similar – it’s platinum, 2mm along the front (with diamond fragments inlay – under 1/4 karat), and thinner along the back. I’m concerned about the durability of a ring that’s under 2 mm. I read somewhere that rings that are thinner along the back can be poorly made (since it’s a way to use less metal).

When I described the style to another jeweler he said it was an old-fashioned look, but I find the look of the contemporary wedding bands to be very plain.

I’m getting married next spring. My fiance and I are in the process of planning our wedding and ironing out the details.
I really dig this wedding band for myself, but I guess it’s a man’s one..
I like the black onyx and diamond alternating, plus it’s cheaper than all diamonds across the front of the band (which is kind of what he wants to get me since our engagement ring is quite simple). We’re planning a modest wedding and are both just finishing college – so we’re in debt.

anyway, I dig this black and white kind of thing. Is it too mannish? (I didn’t even know it was a mens’ ring at first..)
Do you know of a womens’ version of it?

Thanks! I saw it on the back of a birdal magazine, and didn’t realize it was a "man’s" ring until I looked it up online. It’s a benchmark diamond and onyx.
My fiance digs it, too. I was just curious – from an objective point of view..

It is a slim ring – which should go well with our engagement ring.

An engagement ring is one single ring but an engagement set is two rings.. so is just one ring given and then at the ceremony the other one given? Or are both given when the woman accepts? Are engagement set and bridal set interchangeable? One ring is given before a ceremony and the other is reserved for at the ceremony.
Ok so a few of the posters of answers said they had never herd of an engagement set.. I had never herd of it either but I got a catalog in the mail from fingerhut and decided to browse their site and under jewlery/wedding there it was. Engagement set and bridal set.. both on the same page and to me they look like the same thing. One ring usually with a diamond and the second ring that is the same width decorated similarly without the diamond. Looks to me as they are one in the same.

I have a wedding band and engagement ring that I want to sell. They are both 14k gold, and I don’t really know anything about the diamond in the engagement ring. I also have another 14k gold ring that the stone fell out of that I would like to sell. What is the best way to sell these rings?
