My fiance and I have been engaged for a year and a half. We want to have a destination wedding. His family is super supportive and up for anything. "Just tell us when and where" is their feeling. My parents are divorced. My dad’s family has not been involved in my life since their seperation over 10 years ago. After discussing preliminary plans for a destination wedding last year my mom told me that she wanted me to reconsider; and my dad said he didn’t think he would have a very good time. Since that time we have looked at local venues. Everyone tells me it is my day and I should do what I want. My fiance has been super supportive and easy going about the whole thing. He has been so patient! I just want to get married! I don’t want to upset my family by making a choice that they feel is "purposefully excluding people". For example, my grandmother would not be able to attend. But it has been in our plan all along to have a party when we return to celebrate with everyone!

My fiance and I have 10 attendants in our wedding and I thought it would be a nice touch to send them each a wedding invitation that is different from the ones I am sending all the other guests. Something that points out that they are actually IN the wedding (I thought it would be nice for those who keep that kind of stuff). The problem is, I don’t know how to word them!

Any suggestions??

It will be my fiance, myself and about 20 guests. We are looking for an affordable but nice place for everyone to stay on Sanibel Island. Maybe even a place we could also do the wedding? What about reception ideas?
I’ve done the google thing but it’s so hard to tell by the websites.

I am trying to orginaze a Key West destination wedding. There will be 30-50 people attending, many have never been to Key West. I chose Key West because I had a fabulous vacation there with my fiance and my guests will not need passports (to go to most of Sandals Resorts, they are nessicary). I am looking for suggestions on where to have everyone stay, at a resonable cost, on the southern half of the island, so everything is within walking distance. Also where to have the wedding and reception, also at a resonable cost. And hotels that offer wedding packages are a good thing. Are there any all-inclusive resorts on Key West. I would like to get married on a beach, but what one? and where to go for food/drinks after that? I have only just begun my reserch and I have only been there once, so any information you can give me on hotels, group activities, wedding ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

IF SO, WHERE?

I have been searching for venues and such to hold the ceremony and reception at and i am at a loss. I used to live in Woodland Beach (elmvale/ Tiny township) and I have seen weddings there in the summer, but it’s hard to choose a good location for a fall wedding (november 3, 2012) seeing as in central/ Northern Ontario sometime it snows in October and the tempurature drops really fast come November (we picked the fall so that we can get married as close to the date of the first day we met, November 13)… I personally LOVE the winter and the cold doesn’t bother me as much as it would the rest of my family and fiance, but its hard to start planning a wedding if i don’t even know where to have te ceremony.

SO, i turn to the brides and grooms of Ontario, where did you get married in the fall?

My fiance and I have 146 guests. About 100 of them are all from NJ and NY and we live in Florida. We are having the wedding on the beach, but we’re having a hard time finding a reception place. We are paying for this ourselves, so needless to say, we have a minimal budget. All of the places i’ve found so far, charge /person and up. There’s no way we can do that. Does anyone know of a cheap, but nice reception place in broward or palm beach county florida? We both have big families and weddings are a huge deal in both, so a lot of people will come. Please help!
Also, is it okay to have an appetizer and dessert only reception for all the out of town people? or is a sit down or buffet dinner better?

My fiance and I both cannot decide on where to have the ceremony. Which do you prefer?

Palm grove is the first picture and Waiakauhi Beach is the fourth.

The only reason we even wanted to get married in Hawaii is because we both wanted a beach wedding but Palm Grove looks amazing. I am wearing a white princess gown, similar to the dress Kate Hudson wore in bridewars but with a purple ribbon and barefoot sandals, and he is wearing a black suit, a white waistcoat and a purple tie.

I live in the Pittsburgh PA, we are looking to have a beach wedding. I really like Myrtle beach. My parents are pushing for Virginia beach since its closer. I was wondering what beach is better?

We are planning either a late April 2011 or an early Oct 2011 wedding. Depending on how money & vacation days from work works out.

My parents have never been to either beach, I have only been to Myrtle once my fiance & his family have been going to Myrtle for years. Neither of our families are paying for our wedding. That is why we picked an destination wedding its cheaper. My parents will help pay for the "welcome back" picnic at their house when we come back. Our plan is to find a house on the beach, have just the bridal party stay with us for a few days. Get married & then kick everyone out so we can have some kind of "honeymoon". My fiance will only have 5 days vacation at that time. I don’t care if people stay in the area but we need our own space then.
If everyone we invite comes & brings a guest we will have 26 people coming to our wedding that includes bride & groom! (but I don’t see his sisters bring any one, our rule is you have to be dating them at least 6 months+ we are paying for random people to come to the biggest day of our life then never see them again) Wedding party can bring who ever.

Any other tips on planning a beach wedding?

My nephew is getting married and he and his fiance have decided on a destination wedding. They did not want all the "hassle" of a traditional wedding.
He and his fiance and another couple are going to an island and getting married.
I can accept this and respect their wishes. Over and over they have said that they are glad that they are avoiding the "hassle". I remember my own wedding and sometimes wish we had just eloped.
Suddenly, a big reception is being planned for the weekend after their return. To me this seems just like a convenient way to avoid their social obligations while grabbing for gifts.

Life is about choices…once a choice is made we have to live with the consequences, both good and bad.

My fiance and I are getting married in Jamaica. The whole immediate family from his side wants to come. This will also be our honeymoon. I just wanted to go with a couple of friends. Is that so bad? Why are we having a big party here for everyone?
My Fiance feels the same way, or this would not be a question. Thank you to everyone who answered my question respectfully without calling me stupid.lol:) Thatashleychick, you are absolutley right! It was a selfish thought, its just family is sometimes tough to take especially when you put them all on an Island together. I do love the family and the last thing I want to do is hurt them. Thanks again.

On Saturday I am invited to come to my fiance’s extended family weekend trip to a beach house in order to celebrate two recent weddings. Two weeks ago, my fiance’s cousin got married and I had to miss it due to travel. We are particularly close to this cousin because she lives with my fiance (big Asian family house… my fiance’s mom and dad and brother, one aunt and her three adult children live there). Three months ago I also missed her brother’s wedding (which I promised his wife I would attend) due to a lousy case of common cold.

I had wanted to attend this family weekend quite badly, except that there are two problems: it’s on my mom’s birthday, and I have a rehearsal for a drama exam.

But then my mom would be busy on her birthday; she’s hosting a karaoke party with her friends (mostly in their 50′s and 60′s), and I wouldn’t be interested in attending that. I’ve also gotten a present for her and am planning to get a cake. I know she would have wanted me to spend the day with her before the karaoke party; but then I live with her, so she sees me everyday anyway. I can wish her happy birthday before I go to bed on Friday night, and perhaps make up for the quality time next week (my birthday will be on 14 July).

My drama rehearsal is from 1 PM till 5 PM. It’s for an international exam, which I will need to pass as a requirement for graduation, but my role is voice acting so I don’t really need to be there for blocking or costumes. I’m a good performer and give my absolute best to live out my character, but I’ve been missing some practices due to travel, sickness, and a 3-day compulsory government examination. I’d hate to miss another one, but whenever I do sacrifice something important in order to make it to practice, I usually end up disappointing myself. The director and producer are disorganized, people come late and finish late, the expectations they make are unrealistic, a lot of gossiping and backstabbing, sometimes they run out of time and don’t end up rehearsing my scenes at all, and I just don’t get along with those people. I have to put up with them MONDAY TO FRIDAY already! Two weeks ago my brother left home to start his life in another country, and I regretfully missed taking him to the airport for a rehearsal that turned out to not even need me.

I honestly love my fiance’s extended family and have been looking forward to a chance to spend time with them like this weekend away; it only happens once in a blue moon and I wouldn’t want to miss this. July is a very stressful month for me so I really could use a short escape with a pleasant family I’m planning to become a part of.

So I guess the bottom line is… should I trade off a weekend I’ve been looking forward to in exchange for four hours of lousy practice? I would have already practiced Friday and will be practicing Monday again. But that aside… what would be the right thing to do, why is that the right thing to do, and how do I make up for the thing(s) I will have to miss in order to make that choice?
OK never mind my mom’s birthday, I got that taken care of. What about my DRAMA REHEARSAL for the exam? Can I justify leaving one more rehearsal for this weekend away? I’ll do fine on D’Day because I did all my homework and continue to work on it while away, but I really don’t want to build up resentment with my director.

My fiance and I had a baby in June. We will be paying for our wedding ourselves. I want to find a creative/unique wording for our wedding invites that includes our son. Any ideas?

A friend of my mother’s (who I do not know well) offered my fiance and myself her home to use as a place to stay for our honeymoon. Though we are greatful, we have the Carribean in mind and would like to politely decline. I am writing a thank you card and would like to know what I can say. Thank you.
