What Do I Put in A Best Man Speech?
I am the best man at my brother’s wedding and i guess I need to do some kind of speech. I guess I have about three minutes. I know that at the very beginning I want to let people know who I am and I already have the toast figured out. I just have no clue what the middle is supposed to contain. Any thoughts?

Just write it from the heart! Write down how happy you are for them, and you are glad to be the best man. It is always good to share some childhood memories, maybe crack a joke in there to break the nervousness for you… it will be just fine! Mainly, just saying that you couldn’t be any happier for them, and you wish them many years to come!
ok my brother just got married… This is what his best man said:
hello i am ___ i have known the groom _____ years. ( your his bro. so you dont have to say that ) and i have known the bride _____ many years ( comments on how pretty she is ). then he told this halarious story about the bride and groom together it made everyone laugh!you could tell a story of your childhood… how he beat you up, you beat him up etc. lol ( humor is defanatly good ) And dont be nervious….
GOOD LUCK!!
I can’t tell you what to write, but I can give you some things you should steer clear of:
1. Never mention an ex. EVER. Even if your brother was with that person for a long time, never mention them.
2. No Inside jokes. Its not funny when only 2 or three people get the joke.
3. No Long, unrelated jokes. At my sisters wedding, the grooms grandfather got up to do a toast, instead of something sweet we were all expecting he told this lame joke and just slotted the groom’s name into it. No-one laughed and many were a bit let down.
4. Don’t Insult the family. Any family, be it yours or the brides.
5. This is not the time to tell embarrassing drinking stories about when the groom got so smashed and hooked up with a stripper. Remember that your grandparents will be there and the brides family (and the bride might not know this little tidbit!)
Basically your job is to say how wonderful the bride is, how lovely the bridesmaids look, how happy your are to have a new sister and how proud you are of your brother. As long as you cover that, (and not the stuff above) you should be fine.
