What is the difference between an engagement set and a bridal set?
An engagement ring is one single ring but an engagement set is two rings.. so is just one ring given and then at the ceremony the other one given? Or are both given when the woman accepts? Are engagement set and bridal set interchangeable? One ring is given before a ceremony and the other is reserved for at the ceremony.
Ok so a few of the posters of answers said they had never herd of an engagement set.. I had never herd of it either but I got a catalog in the mail from fingerhut and decided to browse their site and under jewlery/wedding there it was. Engagement set and bridal set.. both on the same page and to me they look like the same thing. One ring usually with a diamond and the second ring that is the same width decorated similarly without the diamond. Looks to me as they are one in the same.

There is such a thing as an "engagement set". I received an "engagement set" from my fiance when he proposed. It comes with the engagement ring and a smaller, thinner ring. My fiance said that the jeweler told him it worked as a ring protector, because it prevents the ring from slipping off, which has worked for me. We have also purchased a wedding set, for our wedding in a few months, which consists of my fiance’s wedding band, and my own. My BFF got married in January, and she used the ring protector from her engagement ring as her wedding band for the ceremony. Its really up to you how you want to use it.
I didn’t know there was a such thing as an engagment set but from what you describe it sounds about the same as a wedding set. One ring with the bigger diamonds and then a wedding band. Traditionally when someone gets an engagment ring it is only 1 ring and the other is given at the wedding to complete the set.
I think it is the same thing. A set where the engagement ring and wedding band are bought together because they compliment each other. One price covers both rings and the jeweller wont sell one without the other.
The engagement ring is given at the time of the proposal and the wedding band is kept until the wedding ring ceremony.
hope that helps

I use to manage a jewelry store and I have never heard of an "engagement set". There is such a thing as a wedding set and often jewelry store sell the wedding set or bridal set together because they are a matched pair. The guy usually should keep the wedding band seperate until the wedding ceremony and only propose with a single engagement ring(usually the one with a larger center stone). traditionally at the ceremony you wear your engagement ring on your right hand leaving your left ring finger blank for the ceremony since your wedding band goes on first closest to your heart. The other option is to have your rings (engagement&wedding) soldered together (almost a must if you have rings made out of gold due to wear on tehm moving together) before the actual wedding and have them both placed on your finger at the same time. A lot of women these days have 3 rings to make a more balanced look and again one ring should be given at the ceremony and the other 2 can be slipped on as you exit during the processional. As for the ring being used as a gaurd . . . if your rings fit properly there is no need for a gaurd. Some inventive sales person was jsut trying to get you to purchase more jewelry.
I have never heard of an "engagement set" either. If the rings come in a pair they are called an bridal set. That means the engagement ring and the wedding ring were made to go together from the start. They are a complimentary set usually consisting of a ring with a center stone and a band.
