When is a good time to order wedding invitations?
I’m getting married May 30th 2009. I know that you should send out the invitations 6-8 weeks before the wedding. We already have the invitation picked out, the pictures done, reception place booked…would now be a good time to order them? Or should I wait until about February like some other people have told me?

if i were you i’d order them in january at least, like the other person said, its one less thing to worry about. and if they are wrong you have time to correct them. i work at a tuxedo shop and we also do invitations, and this is what i recommend to my customers. Also if proofs are an option you should definetly get them!!! its well worth it!! my wedding is in june and i’m going to order mine the middle of january. hope it helps!
You can go ahead and order them anytime. I wouldn’t advise waiting too long, though. If you order them too close to the wedding and they aren’t right, then what? I’d go ahead and get them ordered if it were me…it’s one less thing to worry about.
i think its a good time to order them in about january because you will need time to look over it see if its how you want it correct them if any need to be made and also send them back so they can make the corrections then you can buy ur tuxedo and everything else mail them out to the people around may 5-10 to make sure they get it in time and purchase their dress or tuxedo.i hope i helped
I would order them in January just to make sure. For our wedding, I did our invitations myself so I bought them early and played around with different wordings until I found what I liked and went with that. It was so much easier and cheaper.
I have a wedding planning book and it says to order the invitations 4 or 5 months before the wedding. Hope that helps
If I were you, I would get them sooner. The sooner the better. On another note, make sure you have perfected what you want on the invitations. They are an important part of the wedding. Double, triple check, until you are completely satisfied!
I think it depends on the type of invitations you are planning on ordering. For example my wife decided to go with a unique magnetic invitation from MagnetStreet Weddings, so we placed the order about 3 months before our wedding date to ensure that we could send them out in the 6-8 week window. Make sure you check with your wedding invitation provider to see when you can expect to receive your order.
I would recommend 5 – 6 months in advance. It really depends on how long it takes your vendor to turn around your order, but 5 – 6 months is a good rule of thumb. You need time to have your order processed, printed, shipped (if applicable), and then you will need to assemble, address, add postage, and send out the invites. It is always better to be safe than sorry, so I would not recommend waiting until February. Imagine if there was a problem with your order and you needed to have them reprinted. Leaving plenty of time as a cushion is a good idea so you’re not stressed out. Now would be a great time to order.
